Terms of Service

These terms explain the conditions under which Qibla Finder is provided. Please read them before relying on the service.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using Qibla Finder, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. "Service" means the website, Qibla calculation, live compass, map, tasbih counter, and related content available through qiblafinder.dev.

2. What the service provides

Qibla Finder estimates the initial great-circle bearing from supplied coordinates to the Kaaba, presents the result relative to true north, and estimates the great-circle distance. It displays third-party map tiles, and it may use browser geolocation and device orientation sensors when you choose those features.

The service is an informational utility. It is not a religious ruling, navigational instrument, surveying service, emergency tool, or substitute for advice from a qualified local authority.

3. Accuracy and responsible use

We test the calculation carefully, but the result still depends on information and hardware outside our control. Potential sources of error include inaccurate coordinates, GPS uncertainty, sensor calibration, magnetic interference, browser limitations, device orientation, map projection, and the difference between true north and magnetic north.

You are responsible for deciding whether the result is suitable for your circumstances. Where precision matters, confirm it against a trusted mosque direction, established mihrab, local scholar, surveyed bearing, or another reliable source. Do not use the service for safety-critical navigation.

4. Permission to use the service

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable permission to access and use the service for lawful personal or organizational purposes, subject to these terms. This permission does not transfer ownership of the site, its design, branding, text, or software.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service in violation of applicable law or the rights of another person;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, damage, or bypass the security of the site or its providers;
  • use automated traffic in a way that materially interferes with other visitors or violates a provider's policy;
  • misrepresent your affiliation with Qibla Finder or imply our endorsement without permission;
  • introduce malicious code or use the service to distribute deceptive or harmful material; or
  • scrape or redistribute third-party map tiles contrary to the tile provider's terms.

6. Browser permissions and device features

Location and compass features require permission and compatible hardware. You can refuse those permissions and use manual coordinates instead. Availability varies by browser and device. We cannot guarantee that a browser exposes a north-referenced heading or that a sensor is accurate.

7. Third-party services and links

The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles. Other pages may link to external websites for context or policy information. Third parties operate those services under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control or endorse their content, availability, security, or data practices merely by linking to them.

Map data and tiles may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or subject to separate attribution and usage requirements. You must comply with those requirements when interacting with or reusing third-party material.

8. Intellectual property

Qibla Finder's branding, visual design, original text, and original site code are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party names, map data, tiles, libraries, and marks remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their applicable licenses or terms.

These terms do not prevent you from using the numerical bearing or distance produced for your coordinates. They do not grant permission to copy the site wholesale, remove attribution, or present a modified result as ours.

9. Availability and changes

The service is provided without a promise of continuous availability. We may correct, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time. Browsers, hosting providers, sensor APIs, and map services can also change or fail without notice.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that every result will be error-free, that every device sensor will be accurate, that the map will always load, or that the service will meet every religious, legal, technical, or personal requirement.

Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Qibla Finder and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, or for loss of data, opportunity, goodwill, or profits arising from use of—or inability to use—the service.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law. These limitations do not apply where exclusion or limitation is prohibited, including liability that cannot be restricted under applicable consumer law.

12. Your responsibility for claims

You are responsible for losses or claims caused by your unlawful use of the service, your material violation of these terms, or your infringement of another person's rights, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

13. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by applicable law, without overriding any mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live. Before starting formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us with a clear description of the dispute so both sides can try to resolve it informally.

14. Severability and entire agreement

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply, and the affected provision will be limited only as much as necessary. These terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement governing your use of the service unless a separate written agreement applies.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version. Continued use after revised terms take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
